CUISH | Cuishe | Berta Vásquez | 200ml
The female Maestra Berta Vásquez crafted this mezcal in her Palenque (distillery). She is a pioneering figure in her family's history, having taken on both male and female roles after her husband's passing at the age of 30. Berta, now a great-grandmother, typically sources agaves from her own land but occasionally purchases them and collaborates with her brother. With 66 years of experience, she continues to produce exceptional mezcal with no signs of slowing down. This particular Cuishe variety of agave is renowned for its upright growth, resembling a "Agave tree". It takes 11-14 years for these agaves to reach maturity in the valleys of Oaxaca, showcasing their diverse morphology and varying names like Madrecuixe, Barril, and Cirial. The Cuishe used in this mezcal has slender green-yellow leaves, black spines, and a slender stature.
