Real Minero 2022 Cuishe Capón | 350 ml

Real Minero (previously Mezcal Real Minero) is considered by many to be one of the world’s finest mezcal producers. The Angeles family has been making mezcal for several generations in Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca. carefully distill their mezcal in small clay pot stills and allow it to mature in glass, resulting in a smooth and unique flavor. In addition to their dedication to producing high-quality spirits, they also have a successful agave reforestation program that has saved nearly extinct varieties. The ABV may slightly differ in each batch, please refer to your bottle for specific information.

This expression of Cuishe Capón was crafted from Agave rhodacantha, also known as maguey Mexicano in other areas. Mezcal Real Minero distinguishes itself from other brands by using exclusively "true Cuishe" maguey from Santa Catarina Minas, rather than the more common Cuishe maguey from the agave karwinskii species.. These semi-wild agave are carefully nurtured in the vast Real Minero nursery until they are mature enough to be transplanted to semi-wild locations.

After 12 years, when the maguey reaches its maturity, the reproductive stalk “quiote” is cut “capón” to redirect and concentrate sugars in the plant’s heart for a further 3+ months. The small batch is then traditionally distilled in clay pots. The finished product of a capón spirit is rich and expressive, with a lingering finish that can haunt the palate for hours resulting in a one-of-a-kind and genuine Real Minero flavor, creating a distinct tasting experience that is unmistakably unique to the brand.

  • Double-distilled in Filipino style clay pot still (no water added)

  • 123 liters produced in December 2022
  • Rested in glass containers for 5 months before bottled
