REAL MINERO | Largo - Becuela | 350ml

This is one of our favourite mezcal from the Ángeles Carreño family. Following the traditional family recipe, master distiller Edgar first roasted the agaves in a conical earthen oven for several days (depending of weather conditions and amount of agave is the cooking time required), than he crushed the cooked agaves in an electric mill before fermentation in sabino wood vast with well water, and double distilled in Filipino style clay pot stills. Only 176 liters made between February - March 2022.

This expression is made with 61% wild maguey Largo (Agave karwinskii - 14 years average age) and 39% wild maguey Becuela (Agave marmorata - 30 years average age). Maguey Becuela is commonly known as Tepextate or Tepeztate in some other regions of Oaxaca. The full maturity of these two wild-grown agaves, and the care and expertise of handling these plants made a huge difference of the final liquid produced.
