Mezcalosfera 2018 Bicuishe / Tobalá / Madrecuishe | 700ml

This bottle was made by farmer Margarito Cortés. He is famous for experimenting with ensambles (mix or mixture in Spanish). This particular one is a mix of 20% maguey Tobalá, 20% maguey Madrecuishe, and 60% maguey Biscuishe. It is a very small batch made in 2018 (about 157 litres), and we are lucky to have a few bottles of this hard-to-find expression from Margarito. If you have a chance to get this one and compare it to a more recent batch, you will be able to find the very refined notes that prevail in a rested glass agave spirit. Intense, smooth and very rounded flavors and aromas. 

PRODUCTION NOTES:

  • Made by Maestro Margarito Cortés
  • 100% Tobalá (Agave Potatorum 8 to 12 years), Bicuise, Madrecuishe (Agave Karwinskii (10- 15 years)
  • Mengoli de Morelos, Miahuatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico- located 1560 meters above sea level
  • Roasted in truncated conical earthen oven 
  • Tahona crushed 
  • Fermented in open-air sabino barrels with natural yeast using well water 
  • Double-distilled in Filipino style copper refrescadera pot still (no water added)
  • 45,27% ABV
  • 157 litres produced in May 2018
