Mezcalosfera Espadilla 2022 - Jorge Gurrola | 500ml

This Mezcal is crafted from Maguey Espadilla, a wild subspecies of Agave angustifolia that is typically smaller than the more common Maguey Espadín. This unique 80 litres batch was made by Maestro Jorge Gurrola from Suaqui Grande, Sonora and only 38 of these have made it to Europe to us. Jorge is 58 years old, he learned from his father and now he is makes mezcal with his son. They work exclusively with Espadilla from his land. His favourite mezcal to drink is Bacanora - which this production technically also is except it has not gone through the certification process.

  • Made by Maestro Jorge Gurrola
  • Wild Maguey Espadilla (Agave angustifolia)
  • Age of agave 6 - 10
  • Suaqui Grande, Sonora (1500 meters above sea level)
  • Roasted in truncated conical earthen oven with mesquite wood
  • Crushed by hand
  • Fermented in open-air in trays with natural yeast using well water 
  • Double-distilled in Filipino style copper pot still 
  • 46% ABV
  • 80 litres produced in 2022
